Ravi Trivedy
While I have always dabbled in art, I have no formal degrees or diplomas in ceramics. I have spent 30 years of my life as a management consultant and semiconductor engineer. After retiring from full-time consulting, I studied ceramic techniques for nearly two years and then set up my studio in Mumbai, to create my own style of art.
I draw inspiration from sources as diverse as the Mahabharat, my favorite authors, and the art of the surrealists and metaphysicalists. However, my ideas and compositions come entirely from my personal journey and my often sardonic interpretation of the world. My dreamlike works, with empty buildings, stationary trains, mannequin like faceless anonymous figures in purposeful motion, have a vaguely threatening and enigmatic quality. They reveal a deeply existential and satirical view of life, highlighting disconnects between reality and imagination, the past and the present.
I currently enjoy multiple roles as an artist, designer, part time business consultant, management teacher and writer - my book on my poetry and line art “Musings of a Wandering Minstrel” is available on Amazon
